Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's, believed everyone has a responsibility to give something back - to help those who cannot help themselves. Giving back does not simply mean donating money to charities. It also means giving your time or sharing your skills with others. Consequently, this golf tournament was developed for the sole purpose of raising money and awareness for adoption.

Dave enjoyed coming to Minneapolis for this event, but more importantly he enjoyed raising money to help children find permanent, loving homes. The Dave Thomas Memorial Classic carries on his legacy and honors him in continuing the effort to raise money for adoption.

Dave always said, "These children are not someone else's responsibility. They are our responsibility."

Since the tournament was founded by Wendy's FourCrown more than a decade ago, over $5 million has been raised for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The 2009 Dave Thomas Memorial Classic will take place July 19th and 20th in Minneapolis. Wayzata Country Club will be the Sunday night Adoption Celebration dinner and auction host, as well as the Monday golf tournament.

Wendy's FourCrown Community Nights

What is a 'Community Night?' It is Wendy's way of helping your school, club or other non-profit organization raise money to reach your goals. It is also a way for your organization to get exposure and recognition within your community. Your cause will receive a percentage of sales generated during your designated time.

Community nights are a great way to fundraise for your cause. All you need to do is establish a date and time with Wendy's FourCrown and promote your night within the community. Hand out flyers, hang posters, tell your friends, neighbors and family to come and support your cause and have a great meal as well.

Father's Day Frosty Weekend is an annual event in which every Frosty sold raises money for the cause of Adoption. In 2008, the Wendy's system raised more than $1.7 million dollars for the Dave Thomas Foundation thanks to the generosity of the Wendy's Family and our customers.

Halloween Frosty coupon books is another system-wide promotion done in October. The coupon books are sold for $1 and the Dave Thomas Foundation receives the entire donation by the customer. In 2008, FourCrown sold 80,000 coupon books in the restaurants. Thanks to the generosity of the customers, the greater Twin Cities area raised $80,000 for adoption. Thank you!
